Richmond Grove Weathervane Cabernet Merlot

Winery: Richmond Grove
Label: Weathervane Cabernet Merlot
Vintage: 2004
Region: Barossa Valley, Australia
Price: $11
Avg. Rating: 3/5

JD: An interesting wine that evolves in your mouth: initially smooth, then fruity, and ending with a rush of alcohol. A wine you could take to a party that most people would enjoy, though it won't blow anyone away.

RS: Lots of alcohol throughout (14.5%!) which tended to distract me from the other flavors. Too bad, because there were strong notes of flavors that I really enjoy - dark chocolate, blackberry - along with flavors that I can deal with if others are there - leather, for instance. All in all an enjoyable drink, so long as you don't mind being extremely aware of how much alcohol you're imbibing.

Break out the (cheap) champagne, Cheap Wine Snob is here! Many of the wine review sites focus on expensive, difficult to find wine. While it may truly be a great wine, even if you could find it you can't drink it every day.

The Cheap Wine Snob will bring you reviews and guides on wine that's affordable and easy to find. There are many fantastic wines for less than $15, and finding them and spreading the word is the goal of this site.

Cheers!
